5 Ways to Improve Your Brand Messaging
Sometimes it is easy to get lost in “pretty” marketing and design aesthetics and lose sight of the messaging to our customers. You want to make sure you tell your brand story clearly, communicate what you do well and how you can transform your customers’ lives. Most importantly, you want to land those sales. Here’s how to make sure your brand messaging is on target!
1. INVOKE EMPATHY AND AUTHORITY
Your brand should have a clear message that invokes empathy & authority. You want your potential customers to know that you understand their needs and have the solutions to their problems. Use phrases like these to speak to potential customers: "Like you, we feel ...” “We understand...” “We’ve helped 1000 people solve this problem.” You’ll convince your audience to bet on you with their wallet.
2. ALLEVIATE THE FOG
Make sure people understand what you do & how to acquire your services/products. Repetition is key so tell them in your messaging repeatedly. Say the same things in different ways and strategically place lots of action links throughout the website, social media posts and email campaigns.
3. TELL THEM WHAT TO DO
Tell people what you need them to do. Whether it is in an email campaign, on social media, or your websites, use call-to-actions. Call to actions are usually on buttons and use language like: “Get a quote today.” “Buy now.” “Start a free trial.” “Register Today.”
4. TELL THEM YOUR VALUES
Tell people in your brand messaging every good thing that could happen to them if they use your service/product. Ex. “Improve your health.” “Save money.” “Save time.” You want to make sure they know the benefits of your goods/services in their lives.
5. GET TO THE POINT
Take away the noise and get to the point! Remember that the best brand messaging sounds like you are talking to a colleague/friend. So use clear and simple language to talk to your customers. And use effective headers to make it even clearer: Ex. “ How it works.” “ Never lose a sale again.”
These 5 simple yet effective techniques will help you dramatically transform your customer engagement. Good Luck!
